Our film is very much set in the modern day. Because of this we have chosen clothing that is quite modern and typical to our genre of film. The people who get out of the car will be wearing army boots with skinny black/dark trousers. On their top half we were thinking that they could be wearing some kind of black leather jacket. This will make them look tough and ready. The bodies on the floor will be wearing dark clothing and if the clothing is light then it will be muddy to represent the dark mood. This will go with our genre which is post-apocalyptic/Psychological thriller.
The location of our film is at Carters Steam Fair. The fair gives off quite an eerie sense when there is no one there so this made it look like the genre of film we wanted. It is also quite a weird and creepy place to have dead bodies lying around in and this makes the film look like a horror type genre.
We only really have one prop that we will use throughout our 2 minute opening and that is the use of mobile phones. This will create a sense of enigma as you don't really know what the phones have got to do with the whole concept. We decided that modern phones were best for this because the film is set in the modern day.
Actors research...
For our actors we felt that we needed a variety of ages to be involved in the use of the mobile phones so that everyone can feel like they can watch the film because it shows their age in the film. However, when we thought about the people who are dead at the fair we felt that if we had younger children that were dead then the audience would feel more sympathetic towards the characters and engage more in the film. We also felt that we needed a variety of male and female actors otherwise it wouldn't have looked even.
Audience research...
The audience for our film would range from ages 15 onwards. Our genre of film is a horror/psychological thriller and teenagers are very much into that sort of film as it is action packed. They like something that is fast paced and straight to the point which we will take on board when editing our film.
Lighting and colour...
As our film is about death and tragedy, we thought that a dark and moody light would look best rather than it being sunny and cheerful. We will try to film on a grey and rainy day so that it sets the mood for the film. We will also put a filter on it in the editing process as this will create a glum mood.
